Clean floors help a building look fresh and cared for, but hard floors can lose their shine over time. Dirt, marks, and old wax can build up. A strip and wax floor service removes the old finish and puts down a new one.

Here is what is part of a strip and wax floor service.

1. Check the Floor

The first step is to look at the floor. The cleaning team checks for stains, deep marks, damage, and heavy dirt. They also make sure the floor can be stripped and waxed. This helps the team pick the right tools and floor care products.

2. Remove Dirt and Trash

The floor must be cleaned before the old wax comes off. Dust, dirt, and trash are removed first, and small items may be moved out of the work area. This gives the cleaning crew a clean place to start.

3. Put Down Floor Stripper

A floor stripping mix is placed on the floor to help break down the old wax and finish. The mix sits for a short time. Then the team scrubs the floor with a floor machine to help loosen the old wax.

4. Remove the Old Wax

The old wax and dirty liquid are then picked up with a wet vacuum or other floor tools. Some spots need more work. Corners and edges often need to be scrubbed by hand because a large machine cannot reach them.

5. Rinse and Dry the Floor

Next, the floor is rinsed to remove any floor stripper that may be left. This step matters because the new finish may not stick well if stripper stays on the floor. The floor must also be fully dry before new wax is added.

6. Add New Floor Finish

When the floor is clean and dry, new floor finish is put down. Many people call this floor wax. The finish is added in thin, even coats, and each coat must dry before the next coat goes on. More than one coat is often used to help protect the floor and give it a clean shine.

7. Check the Finished Floor

After the last coat is dry, the team checks the work. They look for missed spots, marks, or areas that do not look even. The goal is a floor that looks clean, smooth, and bright.

Why Strip and Wax Your Floors?

Strip and wax service is not just about shine. The new finish can help guard the floor from dirt, spills, marks, and daily foot traffic. Clean floors can also help an office, store, school, clinic, or warehouse look neat and well cared for.

How Often Should You Strip and Wax?

It depends on how much use the floor gets. Some floors may need this service once a year, while busy floors may need it more often. A floor care team can look at your floors and help you pick the right plan.
